institution of the province

Established in 1935 and elevated to college status in 1991, Police Training College Hangu prepares the constabulary and officers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for duty. Its work is straightforward and demanding: to produce disciplined, capable and professional police personnel.

The College conducts basic recruit training alongside specialised and promotional courses, and today receives personnel from law enforcement agencies across Pakistan.

Heritage

Ninety years of police training in Hangu

Before 1947, the constabulary and police officers of the subcontinent were trained at three institutions: Hangu in the North-West Frontier Province, Shahdadpur in Sindh, and Phillaur in East Punjab. Hangu is the only one of the three that continues to serve Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police today.

From a recruit centre in 1935, to a training school in 1938, to a college in 1991, the institution has been rebuilt around the same purpose for ninety years. Work is currently under way to elevate the College to a full-fledged police academy.
